SKIP THE RESOLUTION THIS YEAR
It’s that time of the year again. The gyms get packed with people making a New Year’s resolution to get in shape and join us for a few months or weeks.
Year after year the #1 resolution is to lose weight. Hopefully, I am not talking about you, or are you a habitual resolution maker?
Have you set a weight loss resolution yet? Well, if you haven’t … maybe don’t and here is why.
As a mom, I struggle with my own workout routine. I sometimes feel guilty about taking ‘me time’. For me, goals work. I feel like it’s important to set fitness goals. To have something to work towards with a deadline not just another resolution for the new year.
MY GOAL: A HALF MARATHON
I am not a runner. In fact, I get bored and distracted every time I try to run. I have never run more than a 5k, until 3 months ago. But, I signed up to run a half marathon. I am running 13.1 miles in February.
Why did I do this? Well, it’s definitely not for my love of running. It’s because I love the satisfaction of accomplishing goals I set.
So cheers to restarting my half marathon training program. Cheers to a 12- week program at 8 weeks out running in the sleet, snow and cold of Wisconsin winters or spending those dreadful hours on the treadmill. Cheers to setting a goal that I will work hard to achieve and not feel bad about. Here’s to my first goal of the new year!
