I have been married to my wonderful husband since 2000. We have two boys, one in college at UW-Platteville one is planning on going for Culinary Arts when he graduates from high school. We also have a beautiful, busy daughter who keeps us busy with basketball, softball, and volleyball. I think she would do it all if she had more hours in the day. My oldest son always was in sports in high school. He loves track, football & soccer, and watching the Packers, Brewers, Bucks, and Badgers. My middle son loves to cook, create beautiful art and play with our bearded dragons and puppy. Just like any mom, I love watching my children excel whether it be in sports or academics or anything they truly enjoy. It is my favorite part.
Besides, being a mom and wife…
…I am also a bodybuilder. My husband and I have competed in several competitions since 2012 and every competition brings more information on how to be better and stronger both mentally and physically. My husband is very good at competing. He won his pro card in Men’s Physique and consistently takes first in Men’s Bodybuilding as well. He makes it look easy!
I on the other hand struggled, but as I struggled I learned.
I have learned many things on my fitness journey. I learned that the motivation I use today to eat healthily and get my butt to the gym may not work tomorrow. Also, I have learned that this is hard. Just getting to your goal is an uphill climb and then you have to continue to practice consistency. I was not blessed with a high metabolism. I feel like if I even look at a piece of bread I have gained at least 2 lbs!
What I have been blessed with are choices, and have learned that it takes practice to consistently make those healthy decisions. I am blessed with choices everyday.
Another thing that I hear over and over no matter what size we are, is the self-talk that many women (including myself) tell themselves regarding the way they see themselves. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have the tools and wisdom of the people around me to help women of all shapes and dynamics to help them find their strength.
