With this epic election season finally ending today, it’s time to concentrate on something else…YOU!

It’s also the perfect time to get into a healthier routine to stay on track every day. I am sharing (and reminding myself) some of the easiest changes you can make to a better and healthier you!

Here are my top 7 reasons to elect a better you this election day.

 

1. Move More 

When is the last time you got at least 10,000 steps in a day?

My fitness routine stays pretty much the same, I just mix up the workouts.

Sunday – Lift – Upper/Lower Body

Monday – Fasted Cardio or Run

Tuesday – Lift – Upper Body

Wednesday – Instruct Fitness Class

Thursday – Lift – Lower Body, Run, Instruct Fitness Class

Friday – Rest Day (cause this is important too)

Saturday – Instruct Fitness Class

It doesn’t matter what you do but make sure to move in some way every day. Go for a walk. Run. Get to the gym. Or just do some burpees, pushups, etc. at home. I simply don’t feel as good when I’m not moving. I am sure you would elect to feel better too!

 

2. Sleep Enough 

I NEED sleep to function. It is my recovery time. I try to get at least 8 hours (but very interrupted by kids) every night. The more the better, but that doesn’t always happen. Daylight savings time has really reset my clock to wake earlier and feeling refreshed. Once you decide that sleep is important to your healthy being, you will make it a priority.

3. Hydrate Frequently

There isn’t a day that I drink less than 100 oz of water. I just think of it as four SUPPZ shaker bottles full. Unless I get up at 4:00am (like today) then I get much more! I feel and function so much better with water. My favorite supplement adds to water are Amino Energy and Tri-Pep. They help add energy and flavor, which helps me drink more. I hate feeling thirsty so I always make sure I have a shaker full of water.

 

4. Plan to Eat Healthy 

We all want to eat healthy or THINK that we do. I have realized this only happens in my life when I plan accordingly. If my meals are not prepared, I am not prepared to eat healthy. My biggest recommendation is keep the bad food out of your house and healthy snacks easily accessible. My favorite is a veggie tray and protein in the form of shakes, bars and balls. 5. Unplug from Life

Put down your phone and remote. Grab a book or magazine. Do yoga. Be active outdoors. Spend time with the ones you love. Interact with people. Wait, did I just write that?! But, seriously some of us need a reminder.

 

6. Make Breakfast a Priority 

I used to be the girl that NEVER ate breakfast. Now, I never leave the house without this important meal. Usually, I eat the same thing. If I am working out, I eat oatmeal with protein for breakfast. Otherwise, I eat eggs with avocado. I love a scoop of peanut butter too. I have so much more energy in the mornings and find that I can feel fuller longer.

 

7. Don’t Forget Your Vitamins

Every girl needs a multi-vitamin. And, I highly recommend taking a fish oil. I feel sluggish when I don’t take mine. Helpful hint…make it part of your bedtime routine so you don’t forget.

 

These are on my every day agenda. Sometimes I get off track, but I know sticking to these makes me feel and function so much better!

Vote. And choose yourself! But, first stop stress eating while watching the results pour in!
