Are your kids glued to the tv while the summer is wasting away?
Do you want your kids to step A-WAY from the videos and toss the controller?
Are your kids already busy playing outside but want some fun new activities that YOU can be involved in too?
Here are some super fun ways to get your kids active outside and make some lasting FUN summer memories!
Water balloons are the easiest & still the best way to keep cool and have fun during the hot summer months! Hose attachments make them super easy to fill and can be found fairly cheap. Read on to find some awesomely fun ways to get wet!
Grab a baseball bat and have them pitched to get some batting practice in at the same time!
For a super soaked twist hold a pasta strainer on top of your head (or if you want to take the time, you could attach the strainer to a bike helmet!) and try to “catch” the water balloon in it!
Play Duck Duck Goose and when you get to the “Goose” drop the water balloon and if it doesn’t break the Goose-y gets to chase the Goose-r around the circle and soak the him/her!
Check out how to make this Bike Car Wash
Washing a car isn’t nearly as much fun if you make it a “chore”. Give your kids a soapy bucket of water and make the “chore” less “chore-y”.
Flashlight Tag is a blast at night! Give the player that’s “it” a flashlight and let them “tag” the runners with the light.
Another option is Flashlight Hide & Seek!
Make a Summer Bucket List
We are not talking about chores…no vacuuming, mowing the lawn, cleaning the garage, here!
We are talking about making new friends, learn a new swim stroke, learn how to do a lay-up, swing a bat, try a new recipe, start a journal, learn a new word a day and use it throughout the day, their imagination is the limit!
Setting goals is important no matter what age and what a fun way to start teaching that lesson!
Is your idea of “camping” calling for reservations? Kids LOVE to camp. Why not set up a tent that has been collecting cobwebs (or borrow a neighbors) in the backyard and have the kids do a version of camping out. Fire pits are pretty cheap these days and make for a great way to have those s’mores and weenies by “campfire”!
Do you have some great summer activities that your kids love or you loved as a kid? Leave your ideas below! We would love to hear from you!!
I have three children that keep me busy with all their passions, which include basketball, softball, soccer, football and track!
My husband and I have competed in several competitions from 2012 from 2015. Every competition brings more information on how to be better and stronger both mentally and physically.
I reached 200 pounds after having my children and several things have led me down my path of wanting to be healthier and better for myself and for my family; countless fitness dvds, a gym membership, leading a weight management class at my church and a personal trainer telling me I had ‘good symmetry’.
I have learned many things on my fitness journey, but the one thing that I hear over and over no matter what size they are, is the self-talk that many women tell themselves regarding the way they see themselves. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have the tools and wisdom of the people around me to help women of all shapes and dynamics. I certainly do not have all the answers but if you ever want to reach out to me or have questions I will do my best for you! Email me anytime at [email protected].
