Beet root has been gaining in popularity as a new super food due to recent studies. These studies claim that beets can improve athletic performance, lower blood pressure, help treat diabetes and increase blood flow.

HELPS LOWER BLOOD PRESSURE

Both beets and beet root are high nitrate vegetables that could prove to be a low-cost and effective way to treat cardiovascular conditions and blood pressure by increasing blood flow. 

DEMENTIA

Blood flow to certain areas of the brain decrease with age and leads to dementia. Consuming beetroot juice as part of a high nitrate diet can improve the blood flow and oxygen to these areas that are lacking. 

DIABETES

Beets contain alpha-lipoic acid, which lower  glucose levels, increase insulin sensitivity and prevent oxidative stress, which is successful in treatment of diabetes.  

ZZZ’S

Choline is a very important nutrient in beetroot that helps with sleep, muscle movement, learning, and memory. Choline also helps to maintain cellular membranes, aids in the adsorption of fat and reduces inflammation.

RELIEF

They are also high in fiber so are useful in treating constipation.   When adding beet root to your diet, if you choose juice, make sure it doesn’t have added sugar.

The most common way to add it to your diet is capsule form or a drink mix but eating them as whole food form is also highly suggested.
